Asked by reporters if he thought his claycourt shows have been higher, 2021 French Open runner-up Tsitsipas mentioned: “My tennis is nice… in all places, with clay perhaps being the floor that I can regulate the perfect.
“I’ve had moments the place I used to be making an attempt to use what I apply on clay on hardcourts. It doesn’t actually appear to be working a lot. Sometimes it’s probably not the way in which to go.
“But this has also taught me a lot that I should adjust and I should never really become obsessive that… whatever works on clay should work on faster surfaces.”
Tsitsipas mentioned his method had left him dealing with difficulties on grass, one other of his most popular surfaces.
“I was trying in my head to maybe stick to that… ‘okay, this is the way I should be also playing on other surfaces’,” Tsitsipas mentioned.
“I believe typically it simply wants a bit extra time for me to essentially get into it with loads of observe classes, with loads of pleasant matches on court docket.
“I strongly believe I’m able to not just win tournaments on clay but on hardcourts and grasscourts… which in recent years I haven’t been doing as well as I would have wanted, but it’s a goal to change the style when I have to play on these courts.”
