‘Significant increase’ in COVID cases expected in Queensland

Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr John Gerrard has warned of a “significant increase” in COVID cases in the state over the next couple of days.

It comes the state reported 3,587 cases.

“This number is probably a bit smaller than we had expected,” Dr Gerrard told a media conference on Sunday.

“It probably relates to testing over the holiday period and so it will not be a surprise at all that in the next couple of days we see a significant increase in cases as more samples are tested and more people come forward.”
