Paddleboarder rescued from Utah reservoir, cops say


A girl was rescued after her pal reported she had drowned whereas paddleboarding, officers stated.

A paddleboarder thought his pal had drowned after sturdy winds pushed them aside, Utah deputies stated.

The two paddleboarders have been within the Pineview Reservoir east of Ogden on Tuesday, June 14, the Weber County Sheriff’s Office stated.

At about 10 p.m., one of many paddleboarders began to get involved. The man informed deputies he misplaced his pal and thought she fell off her paddleboard and drowned.

Rescuers began to go looking the world for the lacking girl.

She was discovered within the water “barely hanging on to the paddleboard,” deputies stated.

Officials helped pull the lady out of the water and onto a ship. She was handled for delicate hypothermia, deputies stated.

“This case could have been much worse,” the sheriff’s workplace stated in a June 16 information launch. “A storm had moved into the area with strong winds which were pushing the female away from shore.”

Deputies stated the lady was not carrying a life jacket and was not dressed for the climate. Officials stated everybody in Utah is required to have a life jacket on a paddleboard in case of an emergency.

“These simple rules could save your life,” officers stated. “This was the second rescue reported on Pineview this week due to changing weather conditions and no life jackets.”
