Killer ‘seen roaming woods with railway jack 24 hours earlier than assault’



Alison Morgan QC informed the jury: “The prosecution alleges that Julia should have seen her attacker, the defendant, ready within the woods. 

“He was in the identical location that he had been in earlier than. This time, he was armed with the massive and apparent metallic railway jack. 

“Julia ran to save lots of herself, alongside the aspect of her path. She was chased by her attacker. 

“It is probably going that she fell as she ran, resulting in her left wrist being fractured. 

“She was then subjected to what the pathologist who examined her body described as a ‘violent and sustained blunt force trauma assault to the head, especially concentrating on the top and to the back of the head’.”

The jury was proven an image from bodycam footage of police arriving on the scene of Julia James’ physique. 

Ms Morgan continued: “There was little or no blood instantly subsequent to Julia’s physique. However, a bit of distance away from her, some lengthy grass had been pulled up and positioned excessive of what was then recognized to be a pool of blood.It appeared that the grass had been used to cowl the blood in that space. 

“It follows that Julia James should have been bleeding at the moment to deposit blood on the bottom, earlier than being moved to her closing place. Given the intense nature of the violent accidents to her head, inflicting her cranium to collapse, nearly all of the accidents to her head should have been inflicted while she was face down on the bottom, along with her hood up. 

“Had it been otherwise, particulate matter would have been found in the area surrounding the body, which it was not.”
