Liberal candidate for Warringah Katherine Deves has defended her place on transgender youngsters, saying the language regarding the problem is “confronting” and “very emotive”.
Ms Deves had beforehand issued a public apology and wiped her social media accounts – after posts criticising transgender youngsters.
While talking with Sky News host Chris Kenny on the primary day of pre-poll, Ms Deves appeared to double down on her feedback.
“I apologise for my language, I do not resile from my position,” Ms Deves stated.
“It’s very confronting, and it’s very ugly, so of course people are going to be offended.”
