Giants prospect Bishop blasts homer in AFL Fall Stars Game originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
Of the 14 hits in Saturday night’s Arizona Fall League All-Star Game, none had a higher exit velocity than Giants prospect Hunter Bishop’s towering 412-foot home run.
Bishop, the Giants’ No. 6 prospect, had his blast was measured at a 107.1 exit velocity.
The former first-round draft pick was limited to just 16 minor-league games across three levels in 2021 as he dealt with a right shoulder injury. Bishop had been without a home run in his previous 46 plate appearances in the AFL, so this shot must have felt incredible.
An added note that should make Giants fans smile is Bishop’s home run came off of Logan Knack, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ No. 8 prospect per MLB Pipeline.
Giants ace Logan Webb took notice of Bishop’s home run, and gave the former Arizona State star a shoutout on Twitter.
Perhaps we will see Webb and Bishop share a lineup card sometime in the next few years for the Giants.
