F1 2022: Son of a gun Jack Doohan will get F1 gig in uncommon all-Aussie line-up at Alpine testing, Oscar Piastri

Also becoming a member of him was Alpine’s reserve F1 driver Oscar Piastri, who is continuous his testing program with Alpine this 12 months.

It is a big milestone for Doohan, who was thrilled on the alternative to get behind the wheel of a F1 automotive.

“I’m super excited to drive a Formula 1 car for the first time,” the 19-year-old stated.

“This is a moment that I’ve been building up to ever since I started racing karts, and I know these opportunities are extremely privileged.

“I’m very grateful to Alpine for the opportunity and I’m looking forward to giving it my best on the test day.

“I’ve watched behind the scenes at some private tests before and I’ve completed a lot of preparation in the loop simulator at Enstone, so I’m definitely feeling ready for this challenge.

“I’ll build myself up on the day, enjoy it at the same time and hopefully learn as much as possible alongside the team.”

Doohan is at the moment racing in F1’s feeder competitors Formula 2, the place he has had a troublesome begin to the season, having solely scored six factors in three rounds.
