English Pop Star Will Young Handcuffs Himself to Gate to Protest ‘Torture and Death’ of Beagles

British pop singer Will Young handcuffed himself to the gates of a beagle breeding facility in Huntingdon, England, on November 16, according to animal rights activists. Young joined the group Camp Beagle, which describes itself as a “protest camp against the breeding of beagles for vivisection,” at a demonstration outside MBR Acres’ office. Will Young tweeted: “I wanted to raise awareness of animal testing and the fact that this is a puppy farm that farms over 2,000 beagle puppies a year to be sent out to their inevitable torture and death.” MBR Acres’ states on its website that: “Dogs bred and raised at Marshall BioResources are considered ‘purpose-bred’ for biomedical research… they are comfortable and happy, which ensures that the dogs do not experience undue stress, and that the research they help create is accurate and reliable.” Storyful reached out to MBR Acres for comment on the protest but did not hear back by the time of writing.
