Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has claimed that the Liberal Party’s national security announcements have failed to lead to outcomes.
“They talk a lot about defence expenditure in absence of the actual production of defence material,” he said on Monday.
“You need to defend the country with defence equipment and with skills, and we don’t have that from this government.”
Mr Albanese said it was likely expenditure would need to be increased beyond two per cent to “spend what is necessary to keep Australians safe.”
“When we make an announcement, it will lead to something. Not what we were seeing from this government,” he said.
